Most of you know London well, but to help with planning here are some pointers:

Travel

  • If you’re coming from outside the city, the easiest option is the train: the most direct routes will arrive into Kings Cross St Pancras, Liverpool Street, or Farringdon Station, all a short train/tube/cab journey from Stoke Newington/Newington Green (Friday location), and Exmouth Market (Saturday location).

Driving in is doable too, just be ready for some creative parking and check if your route passes through the Congestion Charge Zone or Ultra-Low Emission Zone (for some cars!)  There is no on-site parking at the reception or after party, so if possible it will be easiest to come by public transport or taxi.

  • If you are traveling from out of town - we see you and we thank you!

Northeast London, where the venues are, is in easy(ish!) reach of all major London airports, including:

    • Heathrow Airport – Around 60-90 minutes. Take the Elizabeth Line or Piccadilly Line into central London, then switch to the tube or overground train. A taxi or Uber will take roughly the same time, depending on traffic (but $$).

    • Stansted Airport – Around an hour away. The Stansted Express train runs to Liverpool Street Station, right near Exmouth Market, and connects easily to buses or cabs for Stoke Newington.

    • Gatwick Airport – Around 75–90 minutes. Take the Thameslink train to Farringdon or Kings Cross St Pancras, then jump on the tube, bus, or a quick taxi East.

  • We’ll be bouncing around some of our favorite Northeast London spots. Everything’s pretty close together, so depending on where you stay, you can easily walk or hop on a quick bus, tube, overground train or cab for everything we have planned.

For the tube and overground, contactless credit card payment is the easiest option - tap in and out. Same if you’re getting the bus, but you only need to tap near the driver when you jump on. London also has Uber and Bolt, or if you’re feeling adventurous (and sober!), rent a Lime bike!

Accommodation & Things to do

  • We recommend staying in nearby neighorhoods to avoid long commutes. Some of our favorites include Highbury and Islington, Stoke Newington, Newington Green, Dalston, Angel, and Clerkenwell. These are all near(ish) to celebration locations.

There are plenty of airbnbs (and this is our recommendation), but there are also some hotel options nearby. A couple that friends have recommended:

  • For a bite to eat outside of the wedding festivities, there are endless options. Some of our favorites:

    • The Clarence Tavern - (probably) the best pub lunch in north London

    • Morito - moreish Moorish tapas

    • Jolene - Miranda’s fave, Chris used to think it was over-rated but now they’re getting married he has realised he was wrong

    • Trullo - top Italian, amazing pasta

    • Padella - more affordable version of Trullo

    • The Tamil Prince - modern Indian, book in advance

    • Mangal 2 - tasty Turkish

    • Umut 2000 - also tasty Turkish, huge portions

    • House of Momo - Nepalese dumplings and thali, lots of veggie options

    • Scolt Head - vibey pub with good beer garden

    • The Compton Arms - cosy pub with tasty food, also book in advance

    • St John - some of the best meat in east London, but this also means pricier!

    • Dan’s wine bar - one of 1000 wine bars but we love it

    • Little Duck the Picklery - seasonal modern European menu with top cocktails

    • Sutton and Sons Fish and Chips on Essex Road - no trip to London, England would be complete without it!

    • Bakeries :)

      • Dusty Knuckle

      • Allpress

      • Esthers

      • Pophams

      • Honey and Spice

      • De Beauvoir Deli

For other activities - London has it all, so let us know what you are looking for (museums, parks, etc.) and we are happy to help :)
